Kanye West Documentary 21 Years in the Making Sells to Netflix for $30M

Netflix has reportedly paid $30 million for a documentary series about Kanye West's life spanning two decades.

The docu-series will delve into the singer and businessman's daily routines and personal affairs, as he is listed among the world's billionaires.

Top producers Clarence Simmons and Chike Ozah, also known as Coodie & Chike, produced the third version of the Jesus Walks music video as well as the film Through the Wire. They'll be collaborating with TIME Studios.

The duo also collaborated on "A Kid From Coney Island," a 2019 documentary starring former NBA great Stephen Marbury. They also produced a 2012 ESPN documentary on popular high school basketball player Benjamin Wilson, who was named the best in the country.

Critics believe the sum is exorbitant, thus they are skeptical of the figure; yet, if the $30 million is proven, this documentary will go down in history.

The footage was collected over 21 years and will be aired by Netflix this year. According to reports, the series will cover events such as Kanye's music career, fashion prospects, the death of his mother, Donda, in 2007, his failed 2020 presidential bid, and more.
