Over sixty NDC Members of Parliament have given their backing to an appeal to reverse the Party's ruling to reshuffle Mr. Haruna Iddrisu and other representatives of the Minority in Parliament.
A source near the political party reported that a request was sent to the Party's authorities to reverse their decision to replace the Minority in Parliament's leadership. The organization asserted that Haruna Iddrisu and the other Minority leadership had been doing an outstanding job and that the Party should think again about changing their most senior officials with ones who had less expertise.
A request that backs the Party's selection to substitute its legislative administration has been accepted by around 77 NDC MPs. They expressed that Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson's selection as the new Minority Leader was a positive move
The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and the General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, were present in an urgent meeting at the Parliament when the legislators declared that Doctor Cassiel Ato Forson, the former Deputy Minister of Finance and Ranking Member on Finance, will be taking over from Haruna as the next Minority Leader.
Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who was formerly the Energy Minister and held the position of Ranking Member of the Trade and Industry Committee, has been appointed as the new Deputy Minority Leader while Mr. Kwame Agbodza is to take over as the Minority Chief Whip. Additionally, Ms. Comfort Doyo Cudjoe-Ghansah, a Member of Parliament for Ada, was selected to take the role of the second Deputy Minority Whip, superseding Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim, the MP for Banda.
The NDC sent a communication to Alban Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, dated January 23, 2023, that contained details of the alteration in their leadership.
