The streak of consecutive La Liga matches played by Black Stars striker, Inaki Williams ended on Sunday, January 29, 2023, after he was not included in Atletico Bilbao's roster for their game against Celta Vigo at the Blaidos. This was after a remarkable 6-year period.
Inaki's remarkable run of 251 consecutive matches in La Liga came to a sudden end due to a muscular injury. He hadn't missed a game in the League since April 7, 2016, when he didn't play against Malaga.
Inaki was supposed to be sidelined for a week due to a sprained ankle he sustained against Cadiz on Monday, August 29, 2022. This would have put a halt to his record streak ,but he was able to recover in time and participated in Athletic Bilbao's 1-0 defeat to Espanyol on Sunday, September 4.
His streak of matches was extended to 237 games in a row. He played for a total of 71 minutes before he was replaced by Gorka Guruzeta.
